Live from Oregon....

Here we are keeping busy during these weird times.  It's been full steam ahead with the taping and skimming...

He's got a banjo (and is wearing a lot of the mud)....

The banjo is used to add coat of mud with the tape, as it runs down the wall...

Basically he is just filling all the screw heads, filling all the joints, rinse and repeat 3 times.  He is almost done upstairs so cracking along...

Meanwhile Spring has sprung, and the garden is in bloom...

Veggies are in in their neat and tidy rows and on their way up, up up..

Planted peas of mind....

Carrots....

Turnips.....

Salad onions, and there is more, but seriously, rows of veggies are quite boring to look at....

Blog isn't as frequent as you might think it should be, mostly because this house building is in a very repetitive cycle.  In the meantime, stay home, stay safe and work on all your projects!

Whilst the entire world is going mad...

Work has been continuing on the build.  In fact I am hoping this lockdown might end up being a good thing for my house build!

So bathrooms, that is where is it at.  Downstairs bathroom concrete board got finished up and it looks like a bathroom...

Upstairs the inspection on the shower tray got completed, after it was deemed to be fully waterproof.  The water was in there for about 4 days not just the recommended 4 hours, no leaks...

Additionally thinking long term we might one day add a steam room into this shower and so some additional plumbing was required...

And with that in mind the walls got insulated with the special spaceman insulation...

Then wrapped in plastic....

And then concrete board added...

With the other walls getting their plasterboard covering, can't get a full picture as it is too weeny in there...

Additionally Mr. M has been going round all the outside corners and adding metal corner beading, this is because these corners could be damaged when they get bumped into, it also appeals to Mr. M's OCD as it keeps them all nice and straight ____________ ..

Now the upstairs bathroom is done he is finishing up the big bedroom wall, this requires the assistance of moi, which is why it didn't get broken coming up from downstairs to it's final place....

In other news I have been enjoying our lovely dry weather and have been busy out in the garden.  I have planted some seeds which are being slow to germinate as it is possibly still too cold, but I have been digging beds, weeding paths, adding soil to raspberry beds and generally spending time with nature....

The birds are singing, the sun rises, the sun sets and the world keeps turning.  All things will pass and we want everyone to "stay home and stay healthy"...

Catching up...

It's been a while so here we are to catch you up on proceedings.  We have just had a wonderful two weeks back in the Motherland, where we ate too much, talked too much and generally had a fantastic time with our favorite people and our cupboards are now full of the necessities...

And then it was back to work.  Before we went away Mr. M had mostly finished up the drywalling, since then it's been all about the bathrooms.

Downstairs bathroom, got rid of the wooden paneling that had temporarily been on the walls, and replaced with lovely normal drywall...

Then insulation was added around the bath/shower, it is solid foam insulation.

And an upstand (a piece of trim) it keeps any water that might drip down on the wallboard and keeps it in the bath....

Then the insulation had plastic covered over the top....

and finally concrete board, next stop tiles...

And upstairs things have also been progressing, shower tray was framed...

Then lined with tar paper and a layer of wire mesh....

Then the first layer of mortar...

And the shower liner added....

And of course the drain...

Things keep on progressing forward, 2 more weeks and our clocks move forward too, and then it will be time to get back out in the garden!  If last weeks weather is anything to go on Spring really is just around the corner....
